Applications Accepted for the LMH Pharmacy Residency Program
Lawrence Memorial Hospital (LMH) is currently accepting applications for the year-long Pharmacy Residency Program. Each year two residents have the opportunity to accelerate their professional growth beyond entry-level competence in patient-centered care and in pharmacy operational services. They also have the opportunity to further the development of leadership skills that can be applied in any position and in any practice setting. The residents receive a stipend and are offered many elective opportunities including teaching at the university level and experience in international medical fields in Kenya and Thailand.
LMH offers one of only seven such programs in Kansas accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. This is the second year of the program at LMH.
In addition to offering a learning experience for residents, the hospital and the community also benefit from the program. One of the positive effects is the convenience of having two more pharmacists in the hospital. In addition, the program is a great recruiting tool. Members of the pharmacy community around the country recognize the clinical quality and opportunities offered at hospitals with such programs. The contributions of the residents also push the pharmacy as a whole to perform at a higher level.
The LMH Pharmacy is home to 20 professional staff and 26 support staff members. The pharmacy specializes in clinical pharmacy services including bedside pharmaceutical care of hospital patients and community education.
