Treatment for Varicose Veins and Chronic Venous Insufficiency
At Lawrence Vein Center, our board-certified physicians specialize in Venefit™ (formerly known as VNUS Closure), a minimally invasive alternative to painful vein stripping surgery and laser treatment. Venefit is a safe and effective method for treating varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency (CVI, also called venous reflux or venous stasis), which develops when the valves that keep blood flowing from the legs become damaged or diseased.
Venefit is an outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia. It usually involves only a tiny, 2-millimeter incision. Most patients experience little to no pain and are able to return to normal activities immediately. Patients also report little to no bruising, swelling or scarring after the procedure.
How Venefit Works
Guided by ultrasound imaging, our physicians close the diseased veins by inserting a ClosureFast™ catheter. This special catheter releases radiofrequency energy to heat up the vein wall, causing it to collapse and eventually close. Once the diseased vein is sealed shut, blood then naturally reroutes to healthy veins.
Many insurance companies cover the cost of the Venefit procedure in part or in full, depending on medical necessity. Call 785-856-VEIN (8346) to schedule an appointment and find out if Venefit is the right treatment for you.
