The steps to becoming a volunteer are:
Complete a volunteer application and then schedule a personal interview by calling 840-3141. Interviews are scheduled Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. An interview lasts about 20 minutes.
During the interview we will talk about your interest, time availability and the volunteer needs in the hospital. We will work to find a good match for both of us.
If you are accepted as a volunteer, we will require you to attend an orientation and to provide us with a letter of reference. Reference letters may be turned in during the interview or at orientation.
Orientation lasts two hours, and you can pick up an orientation schedule and an orientation outline at the time of your interview. During orientation, you will find out more about our organization and what you can expect as a volunteer. All volunteers are required to get a TB skin test, which is provided for free.
Once you have completed all of the above steps, you will be able to begin volunteering. The average volunteer works three hours once a week and we ask for a minimum of a three-month commitment.
