LMH, Internal Medicine Group Announce Affiliation Plans

"We are very excited about the potential enhancements this affiliation will provide to the care of our patients and to the community." Greg Schnose, MD

"After assessing the impact of the coming changes in health care delivery, our medical group decided to explore closer affiliation with LMH."
The Lawrence Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees voted today to proceed with the acquisition of The Internal Medicine Group (IMG) of Lawrence. IMG providers will become employed by LMH July 1, 2011 and include:

  • Drs. Gerald Pees, Greg Schnose, Richard Sosinski, Kevin Stuever and Molly Imber, internal medicine
  • Dr. Teresa King, gastroenterology
  • Dr. Christopher Penn, infectious diseases
  • Karen Roberts, nurse practitioner

Clinical and non-clinical staff of the practice also will be offered employment.

Dr. Schnose said, “After assessing the impact of the coming changes in health care delivery, our medical group decided to explore closer affiliation with LMH. We are very excited about the potential enhancements this affiliation will provide to the care of our patients and to the community.”
Judy Keller, chairperson of the LMH Board, said the affiliation further enhances the hospital’s mission to establish a system of care throughout the community. “The physicians and staff of IMG identify strongly with Lawrence Memorial Hospital’s mission to provide the highest quality health care for area residents. We believe this association will allow the hospital to ensure our community continues to have outstanding primary care as we face the changes brought on by health care reform.”

Drs. Pees and Schnose began The Internal Medicine Group in Lawrence in 1979 after completion of their residency training. Since 2005 the office has been located at 4525 W. Sixth Street.

IMG will join LMH-affiliated family medicine practices in Lawrence, Eudora, Baldwin City, Tonganoxie and McLouth; as well as specialty practices for oncology, obstetrics and gynecology, neurology, cardiology, vein treatment, general surgery and gastroenterology in Lawrence; and a multi-specialty clinic in Ottawa.
