Community Safety Education Night at Eudora Family Care

The Safe Kids Buckle Up Van is making a July stop in Eudora! Eudora Family Care is hosting a special Family Night from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, to share important free safety, health and parenting information.

Children’s safety in the car is one of the most important components while driving. Certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand to check child safety seats for correct installation in vehicles. An advance appointment is required for these child seat checks and can be scheduled by calling (785) 749-5800 in advance.

In addition to the child safety seat checks, bicycle safety education and a limited number of free bicycle helmets for children under age 15 will be available. Also, a nurse educator will be available to answer any questions regarding pregnancy and parenting with a young child. Free blood pressure checks will be available for adults as well.

Eudora Family Care, which is affiliated with Lawrence Memorial Hospital, is located at 600 E. 20th St. in Eudora.

Better Health

When should my child be training?

"There are different 'peak seasons' you should be training. For instance: If you are playing volleyball right now, you should only be training one time a week. In that one time a week we work on flexibility, recovery, making sure things are staying strong from your summer training.

If you are not playing and you are not training, the body does not retain it...you are loosing everything that you have gained. Train more on off seasons, less in season." Adam Rolf, DPT, ATC, CSCS

Better Health is produced by Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Freestate Studios, a division of WOW, to promote healthy lifestyle and health topics that are of interest to our community.
