to travel inconvenient distances to receive advanced cancer care.
Now the Oncology Center at Lawrence Memorial Hospital provides exceptional
quality cancer care in a safe and caring environment,
close to home.
A
Team Approach
A place of hope and
healing, The Oncology Center staff consists of dedicated professionals
who are specially trained in oncology.
They strive to make patients’ experiences the best they can
be. The physicians, clinical
and support staff, and volunteers are genuinely interested in and
concerned for their patients. They celebrate the recoveries and
mourn the losses of their patients, much as
a family would.
Physicians and nurses
who specialize
in oncology, an oncology pharmacist, courteous support staff and
dedicated volunteers comprise The Oncology Center team. They work
together with patients, their families and their primary physicians
to customize treatment and support each other in the fight against
cancer.
About
the Oncology Center
Patients are referred
to The Oncology Center after receiving a diagnosis of cancer by
their primary care physicians or surgeons. A board certified physician,
specializing in hematology, oncology or radiation oncology, will
meet with each patient and their family to determine the best cancer
treatment option for the individual’s circumstances.
Patients also have access
to national clinical trials at The Oncology Center. This not only
offers patients the option to receive hopeful, new cancer treatments,
but also advances our understanding of this disease.
The professional staff and caring volunteers work together as a
team to provide a place of comfort and dignity for cancer patients.
Additionally, the Center includes 15 private treatment rooms, each
equipped with a recliner, television/VCR, a visitor’s chair,
and a nurse call response system. There are eight exam rooms for
initial and follow-up appointments. |
