LMH Earns "Top Performer" Recognition from The Joint Commission
We have gone above and beyond for the second year in a row! Lawrence Memorial Hospital is recognized as a Top Performer in The Joint Commission's Top Performers on Key Quality Measures™. The leading accreditor of health care organizations in America annually recognizes accredited hospitals that consistently demonstrate excellence in accountability measure performance. We are very proud to be one of them.
Thanks to our physicians and staff, LMH was recognized for its achievement in heart attack, pneumonia and surgical care.
LMH is among the top 33 percent of the hospitals in the United States earning the distinction of Top Performer for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance in 2012. LMH also was recognized as a Top Performer in 2011 for the heart attack, penumonia and surgical care measure sets.
Top-performing hospitals met three 95 percent performance thresholds. First, they achieved performance of 95 percent or above on the composite score that includes all accountability measures for which data are reported to The Joint Commission. This means that of all the opportunities to provide evidence-based practices, LMH did so for at least 95 percent of those opportunities. Examples of evidence-based practices are giving aspirin before and after arrival for heart attack patients or giving antibiotics before surgery. Second, recognized hospitals met or exceeded a 95 percent performance target for each and every accountability measure for which they report data. And third, recognized hospitals had at least one core measure set that had a composite rate of 95 percent or above, and within that measure set all applicable individual accountability measures had a performance rate of 95 percent or above. The Top Performers recognition occurs in the fall of each year and coincides with the publication of The Joint Commission’s “Improving America’s Hospitals” annual report.
