Patients in Lawrence and surrounding communities don't need to travel inconvenient distances to receive advanced cancer care. The Oncology Center at Lawrence Memorial Hospital provides exceptional quality cancer care in a safe and caring environment, close to home.
Patients are referred to The Oncology Center after receiving a diagnosis of cancer by their primary care physicians or surgeons. A board certified physician, specializing in hematology, oncology or radiation oncology, will meet with each patient and their family to determine the best cancer treatment option for the individual's circumstances.
Patients also have access to national clinical trials at The Oncology Center. This not only offers patients the option to receive hopeful, new cancer treatments, but also advances our understanding of this disease.
The professional staff and caring volunteers work together as a team to provide a place of comfort and dignity for cancer patients. The Center includes 15 private treatment rooms, each equipped with a recliner, television/DVD, wireless internet, a visitor's chair, and a nurse call response system. There are ten exam rooms for initial and follow-up appointments.
