Pet therapy is a service that is available intermittently on the rehab unit. This is a service that is fun and therapeutic and has been demonstrated to contribute to the well being of hospitalized patients. Persons wanting to bring therapy animals into the hospital environment must do so by registering with the Department of Volunteer Services. The handler must register as a hospital volunteer and must complete the requirements to become a volunteer. The pet must have proof of annual vaccinations and be free from disease. The handler must provide credentials that the animal is a Certified Therapy Pet. This is a service that has been greatly enjoyed by both the patients and staff on the rehab unit.
