Volunteers 14 to 18 years old: Learn more about the Junior Volunteer program.
College students and adults: Apply online. Note: Only completed applications will be processed. If you have difficulty accessing the online application, please call the Volunteer Services office at the number below and we will make other arrangements for you to complete an application.
Next Steps for college students and adults:
Once we receive your completed application, you will be invited to an interview and scheduled for New Volunteer Orientation if placement is found. As a part of orientation, you can expect to:
- Receive a required tuberculosis skin test
- Complete and return two quizzes over the orientation material
- Read and sign a commitment to service
- Receive a criminal background check
- Submit one letter of reference on your behalf from someone outside your family
- Complete 16 training hours with our Escort department
Placement in a clinical department (such as Surgery or the Emergency Department) can only be made once all above steps are complete. For volunteers helping in non-clinical areas (such as the Gift Shop), you will not need to complete the 16 training hours prior to starting your volunteer time in the non-clinical area. All other steps are required for everyone.
In order to offer consistent volunteer service to patients and staff, we ask that all volunteers commit to at least two hours of service each week (at least one two-hour shift). Unfortunately, we do not have any short-term volunteer opportunities due to the amount of training required to effectively serve our customers. Volunteers are considered a part of the hospital team that serves our patients, guests, and each other. We look forward to you joining us!
