When You Arrive

Where to Go

Your drive to LMH Health will be less prone to anxiety if you plan your travel route in advance. To better familiarize yourself with our neighborhood, you may want to do a ‘trial run’ with your birthing partner a few weeks prior to your due date.

The Family Birthing Center is located on the third floor of the hospital. LMH Health offers free, convenient valet parking at the main hospital entrance on Arkansas Street from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Patient self-parking is also located at the Arkansas Street entrance. If you arrive during business hours, enter through the main hospital entrance. After hours, we suggest you use the Emergency Department entrance on Maine Street.

When You Arrive

From the moment of arrival, each expectant mother who comes to the Family Birthing Center at LMH Health is surrounded by caring experts. When you get here, a qualified labor and delivery nurse will settle you in one of our private birthing suites and begin to monitor your progress by:

  • Taking your vital signs
  • Asking about your pregnancy history
  • Drawing your blood
  • Performing a vaginal exam
  • Connecting you to a fetal monitor
  • Answering questions you may have and discussing your birthing plan

The Family Birthing Center has an open visitation policy for spouses and partners, siblings, and grandparents so your loved ones can bond with your new baby immediately.

Meals and Room Service

During your stay, you can order breakfast, lunch and dinner from a menu that offers several options. Meals are delivered to your bedside. We treat your birthing partner to a complimentary meal during your stay, as well as complimentary coffee and tea anytime.

Social Services and Religious Support

Chaplains and social workers collaborate with your healthcare team to ensure your spiritual and social needs are met. LMH Health offers interfaith, board-certified chaplain services full time during business hours, and on-call evenings and weekends. Social workers are available to assist new moms and families with specific needs like adoption and dismissal planning.
