LMH named to 100 Great Community Hospitals list

Lawrence Memorial Hospital (LMH) has received another national honor. This week LMH was named one of the ‘100 Great Community Hospitals’ in the United States by Becker’s Hospital Review; the only hospital in Kansas on the 2013 list. LMH was recognized for its demonstrated commitment to the health of the community through clinical excellence, community involvement and various other efforts. LMH was compared to other hospitals in the nation with fewer than 550 beds and minimal teaching programs.

The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected the community hospitals based on reviews and analyses of hospital information, recognition and rankings from a variety of industry sources, including Truven Health Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters), iVantage Health Analytics, HealthGrades and The Joint Commission. Organizations cannot pay for inclusion on the list. In announcing the top 100 community hospitals, Becker’s stated, “Whether independent or part of a larger health system, the hospitals have worked with limited resources to continually provide the quality of care and the experience patients expect.”

LMH President and CEO Gene Meyer said, “Being named one of the 100 Great Community Hospitals is another honor we are proud to share with the community we serve. This is a true testament to the quality-driven, patient-focused health care our talented and committed team of physicians, clinicians and support staff strives to deliver to our patients.”
