LMH Health Blue Distinction Center+ for Maternity Care

Lawrence, KS – LMH Health is now a Blue Distinction Center+ for Maternity Care. Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) designated these centers based on those who demonstrate expertise and a commitment to quality care for vaginal and cesarean section deliveries. These Centers demonstrate better overall patient satisfaction and a lower percentage of early elective deliveries.

BCBS states that providers receiving a Blue Distinction Center+ designation are also measured on how efficiently they deliver high-quality patient care. This distinction is given to recognize both providers and organizations in an array of categories that demonstrate a high level of safety and whose institution provides effective care.

"LMH Health administration, providers and staff are committed to delivering high quality care efficiently to our patients,” said Janette Kirkpatrick, Clinical Excellence vice president. “Blue Distinction for Maternity Care recognizes our ongoing focus and commitment to our patients and community we serve.”

BCBS said, “The Blue Distinction Centers for Maternity Care program evaluates facilities with maternity care services that treat adult patients 18 years or older, in acute care hospitals as well as children’s hospitals that offer maternity services for adults. This program evaluates patient outcomes and additional measures collected in the 2020 Maternity Care Provider Survey.”

“I am proud of our team every day that we are able to maintain high standards that can be recognized in this way,” said Lori Tillema, director in Maternal Child Services. “I am constantly impressed by their knowledge and ability to adapt in highly complex situations to provide the best care possible.”

We are thankful to our staff and providers for their hard work and continued education to improve and enhance the way we provide care to our patients each day. Our promise to be patient first continues and we are grateful to our patients and mothers who choose LMH Health for their care. It is our honor to serve you, your children and your family.
