Though he was born and raised in Florida, Zack Sanchez ONeill has called Lawrence home for more than a decade.

“I graduated from the University of Florida in 2008 with a bachelor’s in athletic training (Go Gators!) and earned a master’s from the University of Kentucky in 2011,” he said. “After that, it was on to Lawrence.”

Zack worked as an athletic trainer for the University of Kansas for a number of years. It wasn’t until his wife, Courtney, started pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor that he made the move from that role to the clinic at OrthoKansas.

“Athletic trainers are taught to be versatile in many different sports medicine fields and specialties. You’ll find them working in a wide variety of settings, from outpatient clinics to secondary schools, the military and everything in between,” Zack said. “The stable clinic schedule at OrthoKansas allows me to have time to be a father to our two kids and spend time with my family, as well as being adaptable to Courtney’s frequently changing schedule as she makes her way through medical school.”

Zack not only works in the clinic at OrthoKansas, he also works with the RunStrong program at LMH Health. Runners of all ages and abilities trust the RunStrong team to help them perform their best. From strength and conditioning classes to run retraining, the program helps you improve your overall running performance and reduce running-related injuries. He’s particularly passionate about working with runners. It’s the reason he got into athletic training in the first place.

“It’s been a blessing to be a member of the RunStrong program,” he said. “The best thing about working at OrthoKansas and with this program is the team atmosphere. We’ve got an excellent group of providers and the clinical staff is always there to support each other. Our teamwork leads to excellent patient care.”
