Construction is on schedule at the LMH Health Cancer Center

As the need for cancer care in our community increases each year, much-needed renovations to the LMH Health Cancer Center are underway. Construction began in June 2024 to enhance the space and expand the department’s square footage and is on track for completion in mid-2025.

“Our oncology clinicians care for more than 19,000 patient encounters per year while operating in the same space where we provided care for 2,400 patients in 2001,” said Rebecca Smith, LMH Health vice president of Strategy and Communications and LMH Health Foundation executive director. “The Cancer Center has the physicians, programs and technology to provide healthcare that’s not only exceptional for a community hospital – it’s among the best anywhere. This expansion, which is funded in part by more than $7 million in donor support, will ensure our facilities reflect the extraordinarily high level of care provided at LMH.”

The Cancer Center and treatment services relocated to the third floor of the LMH Health Main Campus during the first phase of construction. Beginning November 4, the team will begin seeing patients in a new temporary location on the second floor of the Anderson Health Plaza.

When patients enter the Main Campus through the Arkansas Street entrance, their first stop will be the Cancer Center Registration and Lab, located just next to the Volunteer Services office. Following registration and any necessary labs, patients will take the elevator to the second floor of the Anderson Health Plaza. Clinic patients will be seen in Suite 201 and infusion patients in Suite 215.

The effects of construction will continue to be felt in parking for patients and visitors. Free valet and wheelchair transportation is available from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the main entrance to the hospital. Additional parking for patients and visitors has been designated on the west side of Arkansas Street.

“We know patients often have a lot on their minds when coming to the hospital, and our goal is to make this transition as patient-friendly as possible,” said Russ Jonson, LMH Health president and CEO. “We’re seeking to minimize the stress through communication with current patients, signage, extended valet hours and additional wayfinding staff.”
