About Heather Yates, PA

Heather Yates earned her undergraduate degree in Human Biology from the University of Kansas, and her Master of Health Sciences degree in Physician assistant studies from Duke University. Heather is certified by the National Certification on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Science and learning pulled Heather Yates to medicine more than 30 years ago, and it’s kept her captivated every day since.

“I look forward to learning more all the time. You can see thousands of sore throats, but there may be something a bit different about this particular diagnosis,” she said. “There’s something that you can continually learn from, and that keeps me going.”

Heather was also intrigued by the idea of practicing medicine in a team setting, and the challenge of primary care. But she really enjoys the people she meets along the journey.

“There’s a saying in medicine that if you listen long enough, the patient will tell you what’s wrong. I want to hear from you. Write it down, bring in a list of what’s wrong, your needs, and we’ll get started,” she said. “I’ve learned so much from patients over the years, and it’s an honor to be able to be part of that journey with people.”

I want to be your partner. I look at myself as providing you with information in a way that’s understandable, digestible and then picking out the pieces that are going to work for you. It’s not a one size fits all approach. We can find something that works, and I can help you meet your goal over time. I’m in it for the long haul.

Heather is the best PA I have seen. I could tell that she had looked at my records and she prescribed something different than the usual medication that tended to not work.

It has always been excellent. She listens to my concerns and addresses each one. She tells me which symptoms are routine and to be expected as well as which ones need to be monitored.

Very good

Very impressed with the care provided.

My husband was with me on this visit. When we left the appointment, we looked at each other and said "WOW"! This was the first time I met Heather; she was OUTSTANDING. I was having a concern about a post-op concern, and was anxious. She was very reassuring, listened carefully, was gentle in her physical exam, communicated what the next steps were, and then put the plan into action. She was simply AMAZING.

This was a walk in with an unexpected illness. I was treated respectfully by all. Was glad to know Heather is a PA. She is good. Well versed. Organized and thorough. Explained well and knowledgeable about this respiratory problem I caught. Good thing I went in. She explained symptoms and to call if certain things happen. Then she prescribed. Got antibiotic that day. VSatisfied visit.

Heather came in quickly and it was obvious she read my chart, so she knew my history. This is so important but rarely done. Heather was literally better than any NP or PCP I've seen. So thorough! Heather is beyond excellent, please make note of this, she deserves a pat on the back (maybe a raise too).

Very helpful and pleasant experience

Heather was fabulous. Did the best exam and was very good on explaining things. I felt very lucky to see her

Quick and helpful for the serious pain I was in at my visit to the walk in clinic.
