LMH Health physician receives Ingram’s 2021 Top Doctor recognition

Each year, Ingram’s magazine recognizes the best doctors in the Kansas and Missouri region. In its recently published Top Doctor Issue, OrthoKansas orthopedic surgeon Richard Wendt was named as one of Ingram’s Top Doctors for 2021.

outstanding levels of care, career-long dedication and tireless commitment to patients. According to Ingram’s, the key criteria for considering a top doctor is, “If you or a close family friend were a patient, which doctor would you turn to?”

“Dr. Wendt has demonstrated a career-long commitment to providing the Lawrence community with high-quality orthopedic expertise,” said Jared Abel, Vice President of Strategy and Clinical Operations at LMH Health. “He has been foundational to the development and expansion of orthopedic services in Lawrence, Douglas County and the surrounding region. This recognition is further validation of that commitment and truly well deserved.”

Growing up, Dr. Wendt always knew he wanted to become a physician and had numerous teachers and family members who supported his dream. He began his physician’s journey at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and later completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in affiliation with the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita. Although he has a variety of experience ranging from sports medicine to fractures and trauma, he takes special interest in arthritic knee and hip conditions and total joint replacement.

“My favorite part of my job is the interaction with patients and coworkers,” said Dr. Wendt. “Especially right now [with COVID], I really value the relationships I am able to form with the people I treat and work with. It’s an honor to receive this award and it reminds me of all the wonderful staff I have worked with and patients I have treated over the years.”

Dani Hartert, OrthoKansas director, attributes much of the clinic’s success to Dr. Wendt.

“Dr. Wendt’s award is well deserved,” said Hartert. “His amazing work ethic has greatly contributed to the growth of OrthoKansas, making it what it is today. We treasure his genuine positivity and his ability to relate to patients and staff alike.”
