Your Cancer Care Team
Cancer is personal and your treatment is, too. Our team creates a personalized care plan based on your cancer type, genetic makeup and your individual treatment goals and requests.
Your team may include:
- Oncologists and hematologists trained at National Cancer Institute-designated centers
- Nurse navigators to guide you through each step of your cancer journey, answering questions and coordinating care
Collaborative Approach to Care
Cancer is complex. Your oncologist will work with other LMH Health specialists to determine the most effective way to treat your cancer. This team-based, collaborative approach ensures your care is comprehensive and coordinated.
If you need specialized treatment not available at LMH Health, we will refer you to one of our trusted partners to ensure a seamless experience and help you get the care you need.

Meet Our Care Team
Andrew Meyer, DO
Oncology
Dr. Andrew Meyer is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Arizona in Tucson and a medical degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. Dr. Meyer completed his internal medicine residency and hematology/oncology fellowship at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.
He wants his patients to know that he values shared decision-making. Dr. Meyer strives to work alongside his patients using his clinical expertise combined with the preferences and comfort levels of his patients.
Benjamin Slane, MD
Radiation Oncology
Dr. Benjamin Slane earned an undergraduate degree in biology from Drake University. He earned a master’s degree in free radical and radiation biology and his medical degree from the University of Iowa. Dr. Slane completed a residency in radiation oncology at the University of Arizona. He is a member of the American Radium Society and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
Darren Klish, MD
Radiation Oncology
Dr. Darren Klish earned an undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Kansas State University and a Master of Public Health degree from the Yale University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of medicine. Dr. Klish completed a residency in radiation oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Center and an internal medicine internship at Western Pennsylvania Hospital. He is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
Jennifer A. Hawasli, MD, FACS
Breast Surgery
Jennifer Hawasli, MD, received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and earned her medical degree from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and her fellowship in Oncological Breast Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine.
Dr. Hawasli focuses mostly on breast cancer, but also sees patients with benign breast disease and patients at higher risk of breast cancer to make sure it is caught early on when it is still very treatable. She says the comprehensive care and tools LMH Health offers for oncology patients is just one reason she recommends Lawrence Breast Specialists.
“My philosophy of care is truly about giving my patients power over their diagnosis. I want my patients to know about the disease, how we treat it and outcomes from those treatments.”
Dr. Hawasli is an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, Association of Women Surgeons and American College of Surgeons.
Jodi Palmer, MD
Hematology
Dr. Palmer is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. She earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of Kansas. She earned a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She completed an internal medicine residency at Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego, California. Following that she completed a three-year hematology and oncology fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Jodie Barr, DO
Hematology
"One of my favorite parts about being an oncologist is being there for my patients. This is one of the most difficult times of their lives and being able to support them through their diagnosis and their survivorship is very rewarding."
Dr. Jodie Barr is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology. She completed her undergraduate degree in chemistry at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and earned her medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. Dr. Barr completed an internal medicine residency at Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver and an oncology/hematology fellowship at the University of Kansas Cancer Center in Westwood. She is also the medical chairman of the LMH Health survivorship program.
